Mi viejo 03:30

about

"I want to start with just the style of music. I've always been a fan of sad melodies and chords that, when put together, feel like waking up somewhere new, like the first day of vacation. From start to finish, that was half of the intrigue. And the words struck a future nerve. I am 33 years old now, when I was 18 I would hope that my son would sing this to me. I now can also relate it to my own father—as lacking as he was in the father department, he is a human being I learned to understand. I don’t excuse his behavior, but I can still enjoy singing a song to my own father. It's a gift I give to myself, a gift that completes a collection of joys I missed when I was young. My son’s name is Piero. I will be better, and my father did his best. Mi viejo did his best."
